Marmotte Pyrenees

So it’s official, the Marmotte is heading to the Pyrenees on Sunday 28 August 2016, keeping its reputation intact as one of the toughest sportive brands in the calendar, with a Marmotte Pyrenees 174km, 5,000m route that tackles the Col du Tourmalet, Hourquette d’Ancizan, Col d’Aspin, Col du Tourmalet and a grand finale on Luz Ardiden. If we were building an ultimate one day route in the Pyrenees for the true mountain climber, this would be it.

Our three night 26 – 29 August Marmotte Pyrenees package bases riders at the foot of the Col du Tourmalet and Luz Ardiden in the 3* Hotel Montaigu, a hotel familiar to guests who have stayed there during the King of the Mountains TdF and fondly remembered for its spacious rooms, perfect location and fantastic bar and restaurant. Our base allows riders to remain in one place for the duration of the long weekend, perfectly located at the bottom of Luz Ardiden for the Marmotte Pyrenees’ finish and only a short drive from the startline in our fully customised support vehicles. Best of all, with such a perfect location, riders who wish to do so are able to pre-ride the Tourmalet and Luz Ardiden, on the day’s prior to the Marmotte Pyrenees, right from the hotel door.

For the Marmotte Pyrenees itself, Le Domestique riders will benefit from our private feed station which stocks a full range of Torq nutrition products, handmade bars and balls and water, together with providing mechanical assistance, a place to relax for a few minutes in the shade and words of encouragement for those that need it. The Le Domestique Tours Marmotte Pyrenees package provides everything you need to ensure success on the day.

Full package details can be found in the Itinerary and FAQ sections below, but if you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

    • The feed station is perfectly placed for riders to avoid the large queues at the open access feed stations and will supply a range of Torq nutrition products, homemade energy bars and snacks, Coca Cola, water, mechanical assistance and moral support.
    • LDT riders may also leave a bag with us to be transported to the feed station that contains their own personal supplies/spares/clothing, which will be available on the day.
  • Supported Riding
    • One of the main benefits of choosing Le Domestique Tours, is our pro-level supported riding service, which is an integral part of all of our packages. However, unless you have ridden with us before, it can be difficult to understand the benefits of this service, so for more information please follow this link?http://ledomestiquetours.co.uk.88-208-244-163.jago-staging.com/what-is-supported-riding/
    • We do not enforce an average speed requirement during our tours and will always strive to allow riders to cycle at their own speed (our support policy gives us the ability to provide our incredible supported riding service for 99% of the riders on our tours), however if there is a large speed differential between you and the rest of the group, we may require you to depart earlier/later, miss extended stops or in very extreme circumstances, complete sections of the route in the LDT support van. Equally, if you are an extremely fast rider in comparison to the others in your group, or someone who does not like to stop during the course of your riding, we may have to adapt the level of support that we can provide for you. If you are at all concerned about your ability level (whether quicker or steadier than average) prior to signing up to this tour, please contact us in advance of booking and we will provide further guidance.

    Marmotte Pyrenees Entry
    • Our standard packages do not include Marmotte Pyrenees entry as this gives us the most flexibility when designing our packages and ensures we can offer the best value for money.
    • Entry can be obtained through the official Sport Communication website when entries open, at the lowest possible price and we will ensure that all riders signed up to our packages are aware of the time and date of entries opening.
    • We have run Marmotte packages since 2012 and have never had a guest actively attempt to gain entry through the official entry portal, but fail to do so. That being said, entries are limited in this first running of the Marmotte Pyrenees and therefore riders will need to act promptly once entry opens in order to secure their place. Due to the extremely limited number of places we are offering for the Marmotte Pyrenees, if you fail to obtain an entry and wish to forfeit your place then your deposit of £100 or £200 will be non-refundable.
